NEWCOMERS the Heath helped kick-off the biggest season yet in a football youth league that prides itself in flying the flag for
“the odd sock brigade,” .
The triumphant team (pictured) beat Torriano United 3-1 in the Under-10s ‘C’ Division of the Camden and Regent’s Park League on Saturday thanks to a deadly double strike from Matyi Molnar and a goal from Isaac Coleman.
Wearing training bibs to cover up their mismatching kits, the Heath epitomise the league’s spirit of wanting to get children playing football no matter their circumstances.
The league kicked off their 10th season in style with more than 150 goals being scored in 31 matches. Among the highlights saw the Regent’s Park ‘B’ team beat rivals York Rise 6-3 in the Under-13s League. Man-of-the-match Keagan Cole, 11, showed experience beyond his years as he netted a hat-trick despite playing up an age group. Tate Russell bagged a brace, while Tom Burrows was also on target.
