Wenger defends his view of Arsenal's defeat at Chelsea
Tuesday February 9, 2010
ARSENE Wenger defiantly stood by his team and his comments about their defeat at Chelsea on Sunday in a press conference today (Tuesday). He was accused of coming up with excuses after the 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge and was the subject of particularly barbed comments made by Chelsea's midfielder Michael Ballack.
Wenger had said Chelsea had been efficient but not attractive in their march to victory. Frustrated by the way his side did not make the most of the large amounts of possession they enjoyed during the match, Wenger nevertheless showed no signs of changing his passing tactics for tomorrow's Premier League clash with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.
"There is only one way to play football - that is to win games and be efficient. The best way to win the games is the way which is most adapted to the qualities of your players and the philosophy of your club. That is what we try to be faithful to," he said. "You have to accept that when you lose games, the way you play is always questioned. What becomes a fantastic quality when you win, becomes a fantastic mistake when you lose. It is like that. We still have to believe in the way we do things, in the way we play and to show that strength.""

Wenger change the team or change your self?

The bottom line is Wenger does want to buy reasonable, effective players, right players and will not undertake a clearout. Arsenal does not have the players to win anything now and in the future. Another mitigating factor is the current playing formation. The 4-3-3 style is not Arsenal style and acts counterproductively. The 4-2-2 is more natural and offers the best option in the centre and in the box. This provides 4 offensive players in the box area with the supporting midfielders lurking behind waiting to blast it into the net. The opponent will retreat in defence. History should be apply this should include Wenger. If he can not do it please name your replacement and go upstairs into management.
