Road crash death woman was student president of Cambridge University karate club
Friday October 1, 2010
The woman who died in yesterday's suspected hit and run collision in Belsize Park was the president of Cambridge University's karate club. Tributes have been paid to Mingwei Tan, 20, a medical student in her fourth year of study.
In her application to become the club's president, she said: "I'm keen! Better than just attending them, I enjoy trainings and socials enough to want to have a hand in organising them. I've got experience. I was chairperson of the Green Club and Medical Society in school, and am undergraduate secretary of the Kelvin Club and JCR International Rep at Peterhouse, as well as women's squash captain, so I think I've got the organisational skills it takes to make sure the club runs smoothly. So that's it! I'm at club events, and I enjoy them enough to want to organise them, which I think I've got enough experience to be able to do."

Get your facts right
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 2010-10-01 20:28.Please get your facts right. Tan Ming Wei -- as is ethnic Chinese names are written -- left junior college in 2008 at the age of 18. So she would technically start her 2ND YEAR STUDY at Cambridge soon.
She might be brilliant, but at 20 years old starting her 4th year would be highly ridiculous isn't it?
Or are you one of those Caucasians who are so mesmerised by the mere sight of an Oriental woman that you would just slap bang any information without verification?
