OPPOSITION councillors have called for the scrapping of the £1-a-day bike parking charge, after figures revealed City Hall was due to make a loss of nearly £500,000.

Documents received by Labour councillors show projected income at £2,022,594 but expenditure is predicted to be £2,453,094.

Labour group leader Paul Dimoldenberg said: “These figures show beyond doubt that not only are Westminster’s motorbike charges unpopular, controversial and divisive, but they are also a financial disaster.

“The £430,000 could be much better spent on services for people in need.”

Wait a minute....

... the motorcycle parking scheme is making a loss ???

I won't bother asking why it was made permanent (just last month) when they had these figures as I've given up trying to make sense of Westminster City Council's decision-making logic.

What I will ask is WHY ISN'T IT BEING SCRAPPED RIGHT NOW ?

Is this what we are to expect from Conservatives IF they win the next election ?
