Cameras on traffic lights
Published: 13 August, 2010
• THERE are more cyclists than ever before, now that we have the Boris bikers, but please can they use some common sense?
If as a driver I’m indicating left, do not go up my inside. I can’t see you, and, if I often have to pull to the right to make the turn, that is not an invitation to chance your luck,
If we collide you will die or if you are lucky have permanent disabilities, and I won’t be able to sleep at night.
Drivers should also realise that red means stop. It is an instruction not a request. Just because Boris has invited cyclists to flout the Road Traffic Act, you don’t have to join in. You have no right to put my mental health on the line. You too will be lucky to survive a collision.
I never thought I’d ever congratulate the Tories but well done to them for causing, by default, the switching off of many speed cameras.
Speeding does not cause accidents. Irresponsible and dangerous driving causes accidents.
I have a plan to raise millions and seriously cut accident rates: put cameras on all traffic lights. You’ll be surprised how many drivers speed up when approaching a set of lights.

Cyclists that go through red lights when pedestrians are crossing a complete menace. I am more scared of cyclists than cars as cars tend to stop for red lights which appear to be optional for cyclists.
Can Islington Police take some action on this please? Junction of Clerkenwell Rd and St John St in the mornings would be a good place to start. Make sure you are in plain clothes with unmarked vehicles. Hit them with fines and jail for repeat offenders...
