Football: Under 13's - Kentish Town Community Centre FC Crowned Champions of London Two-Touch

TEAMS are being challenged to test their skills on the ultimate stage this summer when a new football tournament kicks off in the capital.
Coaches Michael Lyle and Charlie Browne are launching the London Two-Touch Championships, which will see youth teams competing in regional heats before taking part in a grand final to find “the champions of champions”.
Although the idea of restricting players to just two touches is a familiar one, organiser Michael, who works at the Highgate Newtown Community Centre, is adamant that their competition offers a fresh challenge.
“Obviously two-touch itself isn’t something new but we’ve created a league to take two-touch skills beyond just a standard training drill,” he said.
“It’s a brand new game that will change the way young people think about football and how they train. It’s more about awareness and how to shield the ball, as well as improving their ball control.”
The pilot programme certainly proved a huge success with scores of players turning out over the past four weeks for a knock-out tournament at the Winchester Project in Swiss Cottage.
Leading the way were Kentish Town Community Centre FC (pictured above) who swept aside the competition to be crowned the first-ever under-13s champions.
