Local athletics - TEAM Camden victorious in Inter Borough Challenge Road Race Trophy at Finsbury Park,

TEAM Camden was once again victorious in the Inter Borough Challenge Road Race Trophy at Finsbury Park.

It’s the 10th year in a row that Camden has beaten Islington, Hackney, City of London and Haringey to win the competition. 

In the girls’ under-17s 3000m race Camden took all the medals with Amy-Jane Cotter, Francesca Simpson and Thea Slotover finishing first, second and third respectively. 

The medal count continued  as Georgia Fear won the girls’ under-13s 2k race and Sophia Parvizi-Wayne won the girls’ under-15s 3000m. Hannah Viner also ran well to take second in the 3000m event. 

In the boys’ competition Camden once again celebrated a clean sweep of medals in the under-17s race with Josh Kenway winning gold, Tayo Awoderu silver and Abaie Thewodros bronze. Alec Jacoby was second in the under-15s 3k race, while Ben Hatch and Will Clarke finished second and third respectively in the under-13s 2k event. 

Overall Camden once again lifted the victory shield after collecting 12 of 18 medals on offer.

• Camden’s athletes have been enjoying a series of positive results. At the National Junior Indoor Rowing Championships Sophia Parvizi-Wayne finished fourth in the girls’ Year 9 category after rowing 1034m in four minutes. Se Oba-Smith finished 17th in the boys’ Year 11 event, Leo Wescott was 28th in the boys’ Year 12 race, Imani Fisher finished 29th in the girls’ Year 8 category and Freddie Rutherford 30th in the boys’ Year 10 age group.
