A MAGNIFICENT team of seven girls from Hampstead Football Club showcased their firepower as they won the Bernie Grant Sport for Peace Young Women’s Cup.

The under-11s side joined 17 teams from across London to take part in the competition at the Frederick Knight Sports Ground, home to Tottenham Ladies.

The girls came from a goal down to beat Harvesters in the final. Gabriella Schmitt Castilla levelled the scores with a wonderful left foot strike from outside the area to send the game into extra time.

With penalties looming, Melanie Hall’s thunderous shot hit the post, but Kayleigh Brennan was at hand to follow-up and coolly tuck the ball into the back of the net to seal a 2-1 win.
