GOALKEEPER Sami Mamon was the hero as London Tigers survived a nail-biting penalty shoot-out to book a place in the final four of the Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League Cup on Saturday.

The shot-stopper showed cat-like reflexes as he saved two penalties in the under-12s ‘B’ clash against Fitzrovia. Team-mates Yasin Uddin, Mijanur Rahman and captain Sadat Hussain capitalised on the saves as they all scored from the spot to earn the Tigers a 3-1 victory.

Sami’s brother Yasin Mamon and Uddin had earlier scored two goals each as the game finished 4-4 in normal time.

The Tigers face rivals South Hampstead in the semi-finals after they beat Pro Touch Community 5-0 thanks to goals from Glody Kakese, Matthew Attalah, Saifuddeen Sayoud, Mohammed Gulled and Jonathan Phelan.

In the friendly Under-8s Division, Charlie Caton-Jones showed some  silky skills as he set up goals for Alfie Bossert and Daniel Nolan to earn Regent’s Park Panthers a 2-0 win over Pro Touch Community.

Club-mates Regent’s Park Jaguars also netted a good result in the Under-8s Division, battling out a goalless draw against The Hill.

Star player Troy Perez-Duah and captain Danny Shai were outstanding in defence for the Jaguars, while keeper Owen Mueller made the save of the game when he pushed a goal-bound effort onto the crossbar.

Meanwhile, in the Camden and Islington Youth League, Isledon Wolves sealed a place in the semi-finals of the Under-9s Alan Michael Browne Challenge Cup with a thrilling win over Regent’s Park.

Goals from Harry Ward and Frankie Graham-Reid twice gave Wolves the lead, but a spirited Regent’s Park side battled back to equalise both times.

Wolves weren’t to be denied, however, and sealed a 3-2 victory when striker Ben Barlow found enough space to smash home the winner.

St Pancras booked their place in the semi-finals of the Under-10s Challenge Cup with a resounding 6-0 win over Hampstead. Tony Crawford played a clever one-two with Bailey Johnston before sliding a through-ball to Michael Diver to open the scoring.

Johnston capped an impressive display by going on to bag a brace, while strikes from Crawford, Joel Chileshe and Tyrell Marius-Hewitt completed the scoring.

In the Under-11s Challenge Cup Isledon Wolves beat Lyndhurst 4-0 thanks to a double strike from Jerry Gyebi and goals from Ryan Ward and man-of-the-match Yindi Raynor.
