Joel and Ardi hat-trick stars

Camden & Islington Youth League

THE Saints started their new year with a bang on Friday when the  Youth League finally returned following the big freeze.

The St Pancras Under-9s side hit double figures in their match against Bridge Rovers at Market Road.

A goal in the first minute set the tone as neat passing between Zakariya Gaunt, Bradley Passade and Malachi Burrell led to a goal for Joel Chileshe.

Hotshot Chileshe doubled the advantage with his second, before Jamie Sanchez made it 3-0 with a stunning strike from 12 yards.

Passade made it 4-0 at the break with a great shot which flew past the keeper and into the top left hand corner. The second half saw the Saints continue where they left off, with Passade again finding the back of the net.

Ardi Canolli chipped in with two quick-fire goals, before Gaunt finished off a sublime passing move to net the goal of the game.

Bridge Rovers pulled a goal back, but the Saints had the final say as Chileshe and Canolli both completed their hat-tricks to seal a 10-1 victory.

In the Under-10s ‘A’ League Primrose Hill held on to their place at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Hampstead.

The league leaders (pictured) raced into an early lead when Leon Morris showed great composure to open the scoring.

Primrose goalkeeper Elijah Abela put in a player-of-the-match performance to deny Hampstead a way back into the game. His saves were instrumental in earning the Hill three vital points, which were wrapped up late on when Harry Nevins scored with a stunning volley.

Lyndhurst moved nine points clear at the top of the table in the Under-12s ‘A’ League after beating Crown and Manor on Friday.

The first half was evenly matched with both teams creating and squandering good chances. Lyndhurst took control after the break as goals from Nathan Wanzola and Callum Cushing sealed a 2-0 win.
