Your Shout - No ‘win at all costs’ drivel for Gunners

AN unprecedented quadruple – just picture it.

Although, in truth, Arsenal will do well to win just one of the four trophies that they’re currently vying for, I think the team deserve credit for just how well they’ve done so far.

We’re almost eight months into the campaign and, with the finishing line in sight, fans can still talk about a possible quadruple.

And what makes the achievement even more creditable is the fact that Arsene Wenger has continued to encourage his team to play attractive, free-flowing football.

With the pressure on to  win a trophy, the Arsenal manager still refuses to revert to the drivel often seen by Manchester United and Chelsea as part of their “winning is everything” philosophy.

Even harrowing defeats against Newcastle, West Brom and Spurs this season have not forced Wenger to abandon his ethics.

So good luck to the boys ahead of their Carling Cup final against Birmingham on Sunday. Go and win it for football!

‘Tin’ Cup may start goldrush

DON'T get me wrong!

I don’t suddenly think that the Carling Cup is a competition that makes good teams great. I’m not even convinced that if Arsenal beat Birmingham at Wembley that my knees will indeed go all trembly.

I am, however, coming around to the idea that winning the trophy at the weekend will lift a degree of pressure off the players and give them a new-found freedom that could prove priceless. A Carling Cup victory could ignite a fresh, new winning mentality that will make the Gunners very real contenders for the remaining three trophies that they’re competing for.

So ‘tin’ cup or not, C’MON YOU GUNNERS!
