CAMDEN Fencing Club starlets proved their growing foil skills by winning two medals at the London Team Foil Tourney at the weekend.
Top fencers gathered at Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park for the competition, which is the only team event in the Leon Paul Junior Series and covers the Under-11s, 13s and 15s age groups. Camden regularly dominate sabre events, and the club is now developing foil skills.
It looks to be working a treat as Jacques Baigneres, Ben Stezaker, Osaze Browne and Jean-Baptiste Baigneres combined to narrow beat Newham Swords 15-14 and take gold in the Under-11s age category.
Camden trio Alex Howe, Isobel Clark and Sam Emlyn-Jones also fenced extremely well to secure bronze in the Under-13s, losing to eventual winners Newham Swords.
Meanwhile Curtis Miller beat Harry Boteler 15-10 to win the men’s BSC London Under-20s Sabre Tournament. One of three nominated domestic qualifiers for the World Junior Championships, Curtis beat club-mate Soji Aiyenuro on his way to claiming gold.
Aliya Itzkowitz wrapped up a magnificent weekend for host club Camden when she defeated Victoria Carson 15-8 to take the women’s Under-20s title.
