KICKBOXER Audifax “The Stinger” Kinga proved a big hit on Saturday when he retained his British middleweight crown in Essex.

The second Dan black belt, who is an instructor at Springhealth Kickboxing Gym in Islington, stopped opponent John Lee in the fifth and final round with three successive spin-kicks to successfully defend his World Association of Kickboxing Organisations’ title.

Kinga beat Lee on points last November to capture the prestigious belt, and having overcome the Grimsby fighter again, he quickly ruled out a third showdown.

“After the fight Lee told me that he never wants to meet me in the ring again, so I’m pretty sure that I’ve seen the last of him,” Audi said.

“It was a tough fight, especially as it’s the first time I’ve been in a ring for almost a year because of injury.

“Lee was a tough opponent, but I never had any doubt that I would win.

“I want to thank all the fans who came down and supported me, I hope they feel like they got their money’s worth.

“Having good support behind you can really make a difference on a big fight night, and I couldn’t have done it without the help of all the people who came down to cheer me on.”

Kinga, who lives in Camden, will now turn his attentions towards the forthcoming World Championships, which are being held in Spain next month.

He said: “Retaining the British title was the perfect way to prepare for the World Championships. Training is going really well and I’m feeling sharp. I’m ready to go and win gold for England.”

Audi is launching an eight-week course specially for beginners at Springhealth Kickboxing Gym in York Way on Monday. It will be running on Mondays and Wednesday at 7.15pm, and Saturdays at 1pm.

The first class is free, call 020 7700 3633 for further details.
