Spicy sponsors – Indian restaurant joins the Regent’s Park revolution

COACHES from Regent’s Park Football Club snapped up a spicy sponsor on Saturday when they popped out for an Indian takeaway.

We revealed last week the club’s aspiring plans to become a semi-pro side within the next five years, which includes the possibility of paying their first-team players win bonuses.

The goal was given a cash-boost when joint managers Steve Wise and Scott Cole were presented with a cheque for £600 from the Bengal Lancer in Kentish Town, who were eager to join the Regent’s Park revolution. The money will be spent on new training tops for the players.

Camden Sports Development officer Steve, known as Wisey, said: “It’s brilliant. We have put together some very ambitious plans so every penny towards our dream helps.”

Regent’s Park suffered a set back on the pitch on Saturday when they were beaten 5-1 at home by Bethnal Green United. The hosts were up against it after Charlie Kanaris was sent off, although they did manage to pull a goal back through substitute John McCulloch.
