Cricket – Smith fires Hampstead to victory

TOM Smith took a five-wicket haul on Saturday as Hampstead recorded a comfortable home win over Stanmore.
In a 20-over spell, the bowler gave away just 37 runs in an economical stint that included seven maidens. His efforts, along with Brandon Buckley’s 3-36, saw Stanmore dismissed for just 165 runs in the 55th over.
Buckley and Smith capped impressive all-round displays with the bat as they led Hampstead to a seven-wicket victory. Buckley hit 79 not out off 59 balls, including 13 fours and two sixes, while Smith scored 43 to drive the home side to a winning score of 168-3 off 22.1 overs.

Division Two
North Middlesex 166 ao
Richmond 169-3
NORTH Midd continued their winless run on Saturday with a seven-wicket defeat away against Richmond.
Skipper Evan Flowers and Adam Evans Holmes made a bright start and guided North Middlesex to 90 without loss, before Flowers was bowled by Ami Banerjee after smashing 62 off 68 balls.
Holmes tried to hold the line, but when he went for 59 North Midd collapsed and added just 40 runs for their remaining eight wickets as they were bowled out for 166.
It proved a comfortable target for Richmond, with Dominic Ridley scoring 88 and Nick Alexander hitting 59 not out as the table-toppers raced to 169-3 off 38.4 overs.
Elsewhere in Division Two South Hampstead recorded a six-wicket win over Kenton. Amit Chakrawarti took 6-53 as Kenton were dismissed for 156 in the 43rd over. South Hampstead easily managed to reach 160-4 within 30 overs. Matt Cullen top scored for South Hampstead with 33 runs.
Division Three
HIGHGATE moved joint top after securing a three-wicket win over rivals North London on Saturday.
In a low-scoring encounter, North London were bowled out for just 110 runs in 45 overs. Highgate collected all 10 points after hitting 113-7, taking full advantage of Hornsey‘s defeat against Wembley to move level on points at the top of the table.
