FOOTBALL skills fit to grace the World Cup stage were on display at Swiss Cottage this week when players from Camden and Islington competed in the Winch World Cup Fives.

Goals and penalty thrills ensured an action-packed competition for all seven under-9s teams at the Winchester Project organised tournament on Tuesday.

Spain, Chile, Holland and Italy all made the semi-finals after making their way through tough group matches and it took a single goal to separate all four teams on the night.

Kevin Ortiz scored for Spain (Somers Town FC) to squeeze past all-girl side Chile (Cantelowes), while Danny Sabiane grabbed the only goal as Italy (Copenhagen Youth Project) narrowly beat Holland (Torriano).

It was a close-fought affair in the final, too, and when neither Italy nor Spain were able to break the deadlock, it took an agonising penalty shoot-out to decide the winners, with Somers Town taking the crown 3-2 from the spot.
