LYNDHURST scored two goals in less than two minutes and survived a dreaded penalty shoot-out at the weekend to win the prestigious Brook House Summer Sixes Championships.
The under-12s side epitomised the never-say-die spirit as they beat Fitz4Kids 12-11 on penalties to lift the trophy.
Debutant goalkeeper Reece O’Garro guided his team over the winning line as he saved a penalty before dusting himself off to net the winner.
In the final unbeaten Lyndhurst first came from a goal down to equalise thanks to a strike from Callum Cushing, but they soon found themselves trailing again as Fitz4Kids took a 3-1 lead.
With barely 90 seconds remaining and the game seemingly over, hotshot Danny Leonard struck twice to complete a remarkable comeback and send the game to penalties.
Afterwards delighted manager Bobby Leonard said: “The team never, ever gave up. These boys are a credit to themselves, the club and their parents.”
Lyndhurst are currently searching for new players in Year 3, going into Year 4 next term. Call 07760 155 018 for trial details.
