WILLIAM Gallas’s Arsenal career looks to be over after his agent confirmed the defender is keen to join Italian giants Juventus this summer.
The 32-year-old, who is still reeling after France unexpectedly crashed out of the World Cup, is a free agent next month when his contract with the Gunners expires.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was keen to try and keep the experienced defender at the club, especially as Sol Campbell and Mikael Silvestre are both being tipped to leave this summer.
When Gallas (above) was first linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium Wenger was quick to make his intentions clear, saying: “William is speaking to us and our desire is to keep him here.I think he wants to stay.”
Talks, however, broke down and Gallas now looks set to bring the curtain down on his Premier League career which, including his time at Chelsea, has lasted nearly a decade.
His agent Etienne Mendy has reportedly been in touch with officials from Juventus and hopes to finalise a deal with the Serie A side in the coming days.
“I can confirm Gallas’s interest in Juventus,” Mendy said.
“As soon I return to Europe I’ll meet Juventus’s leaders to find a financial agreement after making first contact a few days ago. Juventus want Gallas and William would be happy to wear the Bianconeri jersey.”
