Duke of Hamilton Pub closure
Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 2010-06-18 17:43.Since we lost The White Bear, which has become now more of a restaurant, which is very expensive for drinks and it is obvious the staff there dont like it if you do not order food, now we may lose the Duke of Hamilton.
As i am disabled and have problem walking, having to use a walking stick or sometimes a wheelchair it looks like I am going to lose the next nearest pub, the Duke.
Its the last pub in Hampstead that regulars can go to, people I know and like to be able to meet up and chat with. I know I didnt go there often, (though we booked it for my daughters 30th birthday and everyone had great time), when the Bear existed, because of my disability, the Duke being a bit further uphill, no regulars go there any more now so I dont bother. They go to the Duke and as I am housebound quite a lot, it would be nice to know that on my better days I would be able to go to a pub near where I live. My friends could take me in my wheelchair. The Wells Tavern is closer, in fact I can see it from my kitchen window, but again that has become a restaurant.
I hope my comments help in saving The Duke.
