SCORES of budding young footballers will be going into their half-term holidays celebrating after scooping top awards at the Camden Schools Sports Association Football Championships.

There were goals galore as trophy-chasing teams from primary schools across the borough gathered at Coram’s Fields on Thursday and Friday for the prestigious knockout competition. After a series of pulsating matches, the big winners in the boys’ competition were Carlton Primary School in Queen’s Crescent and St Aloysius Primary School in Somers Town.

Meanwhile in the girls’ tournament the championship shields were collected by Rosary School in Belsize Park and New End School in Hampstead.

The Year 3 and Year 4 play-offs, which were held at Parliament Hill Fields, were just as tense and exciting as the finals at Coram’s Fields.

Overall 17 schools entered teams in the two-day event, which the girls’ team from Torriano School in Kentish Town and the boys’ team from Eleanor Palmer School in Tufnell Park both survive dreaded penalty shoot-outs to win their respective games against Brookfield and New End.
