CHAMPIONS Arsenal Ladies brought the curtain down on another glorious season on Sunday with a
4-1 win over Birmingham, writes Steve Barnett.
First-half strikes from Lauren Bruton and Jennifer Beattie gave the Gunners the perfect platform on which to build a comprehensive final-day victory.
The unstoppable Kim Little added a third early in the second half, notching up her 22nd league goal and her 47th in all competitions.
Jayne Ludlow (pictured with the league trophy) added her name to the scoresheet four minutes from time, and although Birmingham substitute Gina Goulding grabbed a late consolation, there was no wiping the smiles off the Arsenal players’ faces.
Hotshot Little also bagged a brace in the Gunners’ previous outing, which saw them beat Leeds 3-0 on a memorable night at the Emirates Stadium.
Gemma Davison also scored in a 3-0 win, before Laura Harvey’s jubilant team paraded their seventh successive Premier League trophy on the pitch.
