FAYE White insists Arsenal Ladies should still feel proud despite suffering a 3-2 extra-time defeat against Everton on Monday in the FA Women’s Cup final.
The Gunners twice came from behind in a pulsating encounter at the City Ground in Nottingham.
Natasha Dowie opened the scoring for Everton before Kim Little hit back for Arsenal from the penalty spot. White then scored an own-goal to gift the Toffees’ a second lead but again Laura Harvey’s team equalised, this time with Julie Fleeting finding the target.
In a heartbreaking finale, however, Dowie scored a dramatic winner a minute from the end of extra-time.
Afterwards Arsenal captain White said: “That was Everton at their strongest and we still rattled them and gave a good game, so we can only be proud of it.
“We aren’t used to losing and it is not a nice feeling,” she added.
