THE silverware has started to be handed out as football teams across Camden and Islington reach the exciting climax to a thrilling season.
Among the early winners are the players from Pro Touch Community, who lifted the Under-16s Camden and Regent’s Park Youth League Cup after beating Somers Town Futures in a closely-fought final.
Pro Touch ran out 5-4 winners on penalties, with Diego Da Silva scoring the decisive goal.
Another side celebrating this week was Isledon Wolves, whose under-16s side won the Harrow Youth League.
The triumphant team (pictured right) beat Ruislip Rangers to net glory. Needing victory to take the title, Wolves roared into action with Mathew Salinas scoring the opening goal within minutes of the kick-off.
Player-of-the-match Joel Espanedi grabbed a quick-fire brace before Billal Louzri hit his 22nd of the season to give Isledon a 4-0 lead at the break.
Rangers pulled a goal back in the second-half, but the day belonged to Wolves, who completed a 5-1 victory when Fady El-Sayed added his name to the score-sheet.
On Tuesday Wolves beat Islington Admiral 3-0 to go level on points with Fulham Wanderers in the Under-11s ‘B’ Division of the Camden and Islington Youth League. Played at the artificial pitches at Market Road, Mark Ikua gave Isledon an early lead, before Zeki Musa doubled their advantage with a clinical finish.
Star player Jake Woollard rounded off a comfortable win when he overcame a bloodied nose to smash home the third and final goal.
The result gives Isledon a great chance of winning the title.
With just two games to go the pace-setters are joint top, and boast a superior goal-difference over their rivals.
