Westminster's loathed bike parking tax
Submitted by phmarsden on Sat, 2010-04-03 00:26.I could not agree more. It would seem that the "reasons" for bringing in this tax (despite THOUSANDS of written objections) change with the wind. Oddly it is never to make a profit.
If the latest excuse - I mean reason - is to restrict the number of motorcycles and control kerbside space, will the council be re-allocating that space to something much more beneficial to the area such as car parking spaces? If they are NOT going to re-allocate motorcycle spaces, then why "restrict" the number of motorcycles?
The council are now saying that they are making a substantial loss from motorcycle parking, which begs the question why continue with the charging for vehicles which anyone knows are good for London?
"Lies, damn lies and statistics" comes to mind.
