TEAM Camden dominated the Bedford Under-20s Sabre Tournament on Saturday, producing all four finalists in the challenging ranking qualifier.
In the men’s event Soji Aiyenuro took first place, narrowly beating club-mate Rubin Amsalem 15-14 in the final. Cadet Rubin, 15, caused a major upset on route to the final by knocking out Harry Boteler from Truro Fencing Club 15-14 in the semi-finals.
Jack Horrix, also still a cadet, fenced well to defeat Will Fotherby from Bristol university 15-12 in the last 32, before controversially losing 15-14 to Will Deary.
Camden Fencing Club also dominated the women’s competition, with Aliya Itzkowitz defeating club-mate Izabela Sosnowska 15-7 in the final.
In the Bedford Leon Paul Junior Series on Sunday Eden Amsalem finished second in the boys’ under-13s category, while Zak Klein was third in the boys’ under-11s event.
