William Ellis stars run amok at Cross-Country Championships

WILLIAM Ellis School can officially boast the quickest boys in the borough after winning two major trophies in the Cross-Country Championships at Parliament Hill Fields.
Alistair Gaunt overcame the muddy conditions to lead the school to victory in the boys’ under-15s race as he completed the three-kilometer course in 10 minutes, 43 seconds.
William Fitter of University College School (UCS) in Hampstead finished second, while Eugene Potter of Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park came third.
William Ellis in Highgate celebrated a delightful double when they also won the boys’ under-17s title. The race was won by Tristan Goodman from UCS, who recorded a time of 10.30 mins.
But school-mates Jack Morris and Raymond Vangiladio finished second and third respectively for William Ellis, who stormed to victory after ending the race with six runners in the top 10.
In the girls’ under-15s race Edith Ault of Camden School for Girls struck gold with a winning time of 12.24 mins.
The team trophy was taken home by Channing School in Highgate after pupils Kelly Hookway and Olivia Jordan finished second and third respectively.
Camden School for Girls won the under-17s race as Lottie Sorbie grabbed a bronze medal to help the school in Sandall Road secure top spot on the podium.
Theo Prosser from Channing School was the first to cross the finishing line in 12.41 mins, with Francesca Simpson of North Bridge House in Regent’s Park finishing a close second.
Lottie completed the top-three standings and, along with three other team-mates who finished in the top 10, lifted the Camden Schools Cross-Country Championship.
