TOP junior prospect Patrick Ward just missed out on a place in the finals of the National Schools Boxing Championships on Sunday.
Competing in the 38-40kg weight category, the Islington Boxing Club star was narrowly outpointed by Frank Baker of Repton ABC at the York Hall in Bethnal Green.
After three gruelling rounds, Ward was unlucky not to get the decision as the judges awarded Baker a majority win. Afterwards the talented 13-year-old was praised by renowned professional trainer Johnny Eames, who told Ward he “was a good little fighter who has definitely got a future in boxing”.
