What a total load of....

...hooey.

Mr. Livingstone's plan is really only an excellent way of adding a few extra billion to the cost of HS2 - not to mention the extra years of pure logistical and engineering hell that would be foisted upon Londoners as kilometres of new tunnels and a ENTIRE STATION for 400m LONG trains is built underneath one of the most heavily tunnelled parts of London.

All to save 365 council homes, and minimise the probably quite small levels of noise for a few posh houses along the route?

I think I'd rather my council tax money was spent on building those 365 council tenants brand new homes - building them in Belgravia would cost a fraction of this ludicrous proposal!

It's also worth mentioning that the entire point of HS2 is to relieve congestion on the West Coast Mainline into Euston - and he's proposing to add MORE trains to the line's London section - which is one of the most congested?

Pure electioneering Mr. Livingstone - transparently so.
