HIGHGATE Harrier Richard Scott put in a scintillating display on Sunday when he smashed his personal best time in the London Marathon.
The experienced runner completed the 26.2-mile course in just two hours, 22mins and 10secs to finish 33rd out of a field of more than 36,500 runners.
Having predicted a time inside two and a half hours, Scott showed tremendous endurance as he knocked a staggering nine mins, 45secs off his previous best.
Middle distance runner Glenn Saqui also improved on his PB of 2:36:51 when he crossed the finish line in 2:33:27.
Dan Higgins continued the fine run of results by finishing in 2:38:19. Combined, Scott, Saqui and Higgins finished fourth in the UK Marathon Team Championships.
First-time marathon man Shaun Dixon ran 2:42:51, a mark the talented runner has already set his sights on improving.
Jo Carritt was the fastest Harrier woman to complete the marathon as she clocked a time of 3:06:45.
Alex Goodwin and Kirat Nandra also completed the course, raising lots of money for charities in the process. Goodwin was timed at 3:28:44, another PB after finishing in 3:39:26 last year, while Nandra ran round in 4:37:56.
Rhian Hampson-Jones, who is a voluble member of Highgate’s cross-country teams, also ran well as she completed the course 3:29:00.
