Lily sparks a firework campaign
HUNDREDS of eye-catching posters designed by an Islington schoolgirl have launched the borough’s campaign for safe fireworks use this year. Ten-year-old Lily Markey, from William Tyndale Primary School, won a contest entered by almost 300 children to design the campaign poster, which is being sent to schools, police teams, leisure centres, youth groups and others.
The poster spree is just one part of a £30,000 campaign to combat anti-social behaviour over the Halloween and fireworks season, which will include extra police and council patrols and Trading Standards officers visiting shops that sell fireworks to under-age children.
