Alfie fires Wolves to championship glory
ISLEDON Wolves capped off a tremendous season in the Camden and Islington Youth League on Friday when they beat Highbury Rangers to lift the Under-12s ‘B’ League Championship at Market Road.
Star striker Alfie Costello got Wolves off to the perfect start with a stunning shot on the turn. Aaron Hammond, whose tireless work in midfield enabled Isledon to launch non-stop attacks, then doubled the advantage with another neat finish.
Goalkeeper EJ Gyebi was outstanding at the back as Wolves kept their 11th clean-sheet of the season, before Conor O’Shea put the finishing touches on a 3-0 win with a well-placed header. The win was especially sweet for manager Natasha Ademakinwa, who has managed the side for almost three years. At just 21 years old Natasha is the youngest female manager in the league’s history to lead a team to the title. She said afterwards: “I’m so proud of the boys. I’ve believed in this team from the start, and I knew that all they needed to be successful was to believe in themselves too. I’m one happy and proud manager.”
