THERE are a couple of Q and As I want to flag up at the Tricycle in the next fortnight: the Kilburn cinema welcomes journalist Jon Ronson this week, to discuss the film Men Who Stare At Goats – the George Clooney/Ewan McGregor vehicle based on his book.
Jon is due to appear on Tuesday at 8.30pm to discuss how he came across the hilarious story of secret US army experiments in psychic powers.
Fidelity is an interesting documentary that considers what the future holds for Cuba, post-Castro. It draws on a series of interviews. Among those featuring is an ex-fighter of the Sierra, a television actress, a gigolo, a young ballet dancer, the custodian of a church.
Their fears about what the future holds for their country makes for a moving hour or so.
Following the screening there will be a panel discussion with Stephen Wilkinson (assistant director of the International Institute for the Study of Cuba at the London Metropolitan University) and Stephen M Hart (professor of Hispanic studies at University College London). The session is chaired by Katerina Vlckova (Channel 4 News and Current Affairs). The film is screened on Sunday December 6th at the Tricycle.
