Win tickets for the
Renoir Cinema
IT is one of my favourite places to while away a dark winter afternoon, with its Bloomsbury ambience and programming policy of showing the very best movies from around the world, reminding us that film culture is global and not just about Hollywood nonsense. Established by the legendary German Communist Andi Ingle, the Renoir in Brunswick Square has a pedigree: and now I have some extra reasons to sing the praises of this anti-dote to multiplex movie-going.
Our friends there have offered to screen the super Jimmy Stewart Christmas film It’s A Wonderful Life on November 20 – and donate the tickets sales to our annual charity hamper appeal. So get your tickets in – thanks guys! Call 0871 7033991 for tickets.
What’s more they are showing the super Romanian flick Tales From The Golden Age (pictured), and are offering you, dear reader, the chance of some free tickets. All you have to do is email renoir@curzoncinemas.com and answer this ridiculously simple question: which country is Tales From The Golden Age set in?
Finally, I’m also pleased to say the Renoir is setting up a mother and baby film club, and a children’s film session, too. It’s going to offer such themes as the greatest children’s sci-fi, green movies for little ‘uns, a sing-along season and even one focussing on the forgotten gems of the silent era. Watch this space for more details.
