Playing for UCH
A TROUPE of opera singers, classical soloists and music hall favourites will come together at Rosslyn Hill Chapel in Hampstead for a special charity concert on Saturday.
The music maestro is 75-year-old pianist and former black cab driver David Power, also a one-time boxer, who is hoping to raise a healthy sum of money for the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Unit at University College Hospital.
Mr Power is no stranger to the concert game, having successfully hosted a similar sell-out show at the New Player’s Theatre last year. But this time the line-up is even more impressive, with classical pianist Renara Akhoundova (pictured) travelling all the way from Moscow to play. She is joined by accomplished sopranos Seija Knight and Angela Sweeney.
Mr Power, who has raised more than £3,500 for the unit, said the audience should be in for a treat: “It’s going to be really special on Saturday. I think this is the strongest line-up we’ve had. Renara is one of the best pianists in Russia and she is coming here just for us.”
By the looks of it you will be lucky to get a seat, so get booking.
