PREVIEW: FAMILY CONCERTS
Various venues
THE popular Family Friendly series of concerts is being resumed again this Sunday at Lauderdale House, Highgate.
Prize-winning musicians Louisa Stonehill and pianist Nicholas Burns will be playing Mozart, Philip Sawyers and Elgar.
Other concerts will be given by the Highgate-based Chatto Quartet (18/10), MorrisLenson Guitar Duo (8/09) and violinist Anna Blackmur (29/09). The Chatto Quartet was formed by cellist Grace Chatto, who started to play the cello with Wendy Max and has had lessons with Robert Max at the Royal Academy of Music.
“Our Family Friendly concerts are designed to nurture the next generation of concert-goers,” says Katherine Ives, general manager of Lauderdale House.
The Jazz in the House series at Lauderdale House starts on Thursday October 15 with sublime singer Georgia Mancio and the Frank Griffith Nonet.
Others lined up to fill the weekly slot are singer Zena James (October 22), the Partisans (October 29) and Carol Grimes (November 19).
The highly popular Cabaret in the House series starts on Sunday October 11, with West End star Katie Kerr, now touring as Lynne in Stepping Out. Actor, writer, performer and producer Ray Shell will be performing on Sunday October 25. There is likely to be strong demand for tickets, so book early.
Meanwhile, free family concerts at Swiss Cottage Library get under way again on Sunday, starting at 2.30pm.
The concerts, sponsored by the Cavatina Chamber Music Trust, are for children aged six-plus.
