Sally goes Bach to her childhood haunt

St John's, Downshire Hill
ALTO soloist Sally Bruce-Payne will be returning to her childhood days when she sings at St John’s Downshire Hill, Hampstead, with the Bach Players in a concert of Haydn, Corelli and Vivaldi pieces in just over a week’s time.
She spent the first years of her life living opposite the church during the time her father, David Bruce-Payne, was organist at Westminster Abbey.
“When he retired from Westminster Abbey, we moved to Birmingham following his appointment as professor of music at the conservatoire,” recalls Sally.
“A lot later, I renewed my links with Hampstead and the church after I graduated from the Royal College of Music.
“I lived in Willow Road, not far from St John’s.”
Sally sings with several groups such as the Brooke Street Band, the Handel specialists and the Bach Players.
She’s just been in Venice to sing in Vivaldi’s opera a Fida Nympha with the opera company La Serimissa.
At St John’s Downshire Hill, she will be singing some of Haydn’s delightful folk songs and
