Child star will shine in aid of charity fund
PREVIEW: RAFAEL LUC AND BROOKS QUARTET
Lauderdale House
YOUNG Polish accordion virtuoso Rafael Luc will be playing a week on Sunday at Lauderdale House in a concert with the Brooks Quartet to raise funds for the Elias Fawcett Trust, which supports young musicians.
Now aged 22 and studying under Professor Owen Murray at the Royal Academy of Music, Luc was something of a child prodigy, guided by his accordion-player father in Wroclaw, Poland.
His concert life started when he was 10. He had given over 200 recitals by the time he was 13.
Over the years, he has performed in recitals and with orchestras in Poland, the Czech and Slovak Republics, Hungary, Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Switzerland and England.
“Rafael will be playing at our concert with the Brooks Quartet made up young string players also studying at the Royal Academy,” says Katherine Ives, general manager of Lauderdale House.
“Works will include a piece for accordion and string quartet, another for cello and accordion and one for solo accordion.
“The concert featuring young musicians is what the Elias Fawcett Trust is all about.
“It was set up by the family of Elias Fawcett, a promising guitarist, after his death at the age of 18.
“The trust uses its funds to create concert opportunities for promising young musicians.”
