Crotchets and tea are a snip
PREVIEW: CREAM TEA CONCERTS St Martin-In-the-fields
AFTER a two-year break for building works, St Martin-in-the-Fields has revived its splendid institution of “crochets and cream teas”. One-hour tea concerts take place each Monday afternoon during August, cream tea being taken before or after concerts.
The pricing is a steal. Combined concert and cream tea costs £8.75.
First up on Monday are the outstanding Australian cellist Linda Lee and pianist Daniel Swain. The concert will comprise Mendelssohn’s lyrical Song Without Words and Saint-Saens popular piece The Swan, plus Beethoven’s late, great sonata for cello and piano in C and Schubert’s “Arpeggione” sonata.
