Up-and-coming trumpet player Jeremy Pelt
Catch this rising star
PREVIEW: JEREMY PELT Jazz in the Lund
UP and coming US trumpet player Jeremy Pelt will be playing with his quartet on Thursday at the monthly Villandry Jazz in the Lund at University College School (UCS) in Hampstead.
It will be his only UK engagement on a brief European tour.
The trumpeter is a relative newcomer on the New York jazz circuit having graduated barely 10 years ago from Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Other noted alumni of the college include Quincy Jones, Dianna Krall and Branford Marsallis.
Ollie Rosenblatt, promoter of the UCS monthly jazz sets, says Jeremy Pelt is widely recognised around the world as one of jazz’s great trumpet players, having been voted Rising Star on the trumpet for five years by Down Beat Magazine and the Jazz Journalists Association.
“He is one of a new generation of world class artists to be watched closely, possessing and perhaps rivalling the star quality of Roy Hargrove, Terence Blanchard and even the great, late Freddie Hubbard,” says Ollie.
