Clash legend Jones headlines Proud birthday bash
PREVIEW: PROUD 1ST BIRTHDAY Proud Camden
PROUD Camden is one year old this month and there’s just so much to tell you about. Mick Jones (ex Clash) headlines the April 16 birthday with his Rotten Hill Gang, leading an A-Z of rock royalty including Goldilocks, The Pipettes, Queens of Noize, James Lavelle and Kid Harpoon.
But first, launching on Sunday is Younger than Yesterday, hosted by ex-Dirty Pretty Things members Didz and Anthony, with the Klaxons DJing. The hosts will perform an acoustic covers set, with special guests, and musicians can bring their instruments.
On Wednesday, Andy Warhol’s legendary 60s hangout, Factory, comes to Proud with a bill of up and coming artists and musicians. The main room will be wrapped in three miles of foil to recreate Warhol’s studio including the “15 minutes” red sofa.
There’s four days of bank holiday mayhem. Thursday has a DJ set from the Infadels, DJ Darkorse, and more. On Friday there’s Men in Masks with Shock Defeat and Caimbo live. Saturday features Elmore Judd and My Tiger My Timing. The Pipettes headline Easter Sunday, followed by DJ sets from Didz and Bioux – open till 4am.
The weekend ends with some cerebral entertainment as cultural icon Billy Childish appears with his band the MBE and hosts a Q&A.
