AWARD-winning bass-barritone Sir Willard White performs at LSO St Luke’s next week in an exploration of the repertoire and life story of Paul Robeson.
The Jamican-born singer (pictured) will take on the mantle of Robeson, an All-American hero who raised awareness of the civil rights movement for equality and human rights in the mid-20th century. The programme includes Negro spirituals, British folk song, and classic early jazz songs. The concert concludes with a rendition of Ol’ Man River.
