A Bitter sweet night in store at the Barfly
PREVIEW - BITTER THINGS Camden Barfly
LISTENING to Bitter Things is like being lost in the magical, perilous woods trying to pick out your way home. As the mystery unfolds there are flashes of danger, references to “bodies in the river”, urgent romance in We Will Be Lovers, wounded pleas in Let Me Down Slow, sublime guitars and an edgy atmosphere.
They’re a guitar band with a folky twist, full of shadows, conviction, eloquence and humour.
There’s more than a hint of Velvet Underground, but they don’t allow this to restrict their style.
Bitter Things play Camden Barfly tomorrow (Friday) and I know I’ll be there.
