Revere are set to play at Union Chapel
Escape artists on march
PREVIEW: REVERE AND FRIENDS Union Chapel
REVERE’S newest single, The Escape Artist, crept into my consciousness when I thought I wasn’t even listening and now I find myself searching MySpace to hear more. This Union Chapel show will be nothing if not dramatic – expect Revere’s rousing, choral sounds, marching drums and gypsy strings to be even more haunting as they echo through the building’s stone arches.
The headliners will have a hard act to follow, having chosen the incredible Gabby Young and Other Animals as support. Gabby’s in her 20s, but her rich voice is that of a beautifully weathered jazz singer.
She flits from the cheeky, flirty burlesque of Snakebite to wistful, tormented ballads such as Mole. Support also from singer-songwriter Kat Flint and acoustic
folk-blues musician Pepe Belmonte.
* Revere and Friends play the Union Chapel on December 12.
