Art gifts for sale – a fiver upwards
LOOKING for inspirational gifts and there’s nothing that grabs you in the high street? How about giving a piece of art for Christmas? No need to join the Oxford Street scrum – there are a couple of art shows in north London that might have what you’re looking for.
The Kingsgate Gallery in West Hampstead opens its Winter Show on Saturday at noon and promises a wide range of paintings, ceramics, textiles, furniture and jewellery.
These are works created by the 40 or so professional artists who operate out of the workshops in Kingsgate Road.
The prices of works range from £5 to £500.
Meanwhile, in Camden Town, there is an exhibition of Outsider Art – produced by those who are excluded from society, people with physical or mental disabilities other groups that are disadvantaged or excluded from society (including: homeless people, refugees, substance misusers, offenders and ex-offenders), and supported by the The Other Side Gallery charity. Their Christmas Show opened last week at Novas in Parkway and their permanent online show of excellent work can be seen at www.theothersidegallery.org
