Pick of the Indies Halloween | Chill | Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? | Bette Davis
WHAT better way to get all spooky and in the mood for Halloween than head down to the Dartmouth Arms in York Rise, Dartmouth Park, on Tuesday night and enjoy one of their new regular film nights?
In honour of the scariest night of the year, the pub has chosen a right royal knee-knocker, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, it tells the story of two sisters, both faded Hollywood stars, living in grotty isolation in their Californian mansion. Incredibly creepy, the pair put in career-defining performances. It makes the slasher flick genre which has become the Halloween staple seem totally tame.
The film club kicked off last month with Sideways, and the pub has new fat comfy sofas and a couple of nicotine and beer-buying breaks for film-goers.
What is more, it’s free to get in and the big screen is top quality.
