Spiderbaby ready to become new web favourites
PREVIEW: SPIDERBABY Cross Kings
SLY, suggestive alternative rock will titillate at Club Hell tomorrow (Friday), courtesy of Spiderbaby.
The fourpiece is made up of the kind of creatures who snuck in under-age at the Electric Ballroom, then hung out at the Devonshire Arms back in the good old days – weird-looking types, but cuddly underneath.
Islington-raised lead singer Shannon resembles Vince Noir from the Mighty Boosh, quivering about on stage like an excited fetishist during songs like the un-PC, Dead Chavs.
Also vocalising to good effect, particularly during mellow Babydoll and catchy LoveBuzz, is the talented Ashleigh Jade.
Nine Inch Nails and Muse-inspired drums and guitar are taken care of by Jonti and Nathan James.
The gig is the first stop on the band’s Death of Spiderbaby tour. Tropics of Cancer, Suckerettes and Blue Bambinos are also slated to perform. JOSH LOEB
