Celebrate the life, philosophy and hopes of Rudolf Rocker
RUDOLF Rocker grew up in Germany, cut his political teeth in Paris and New York, but will forever be associated with the East End.
The anarchist, who was a driving political force in the Jewish tailor sweat shops of the early 20th century, became a hero of the downtrodden for his raucous political speeches that encapsulated the plight of the working classes at the turn of the last century. Celebrate the life, philosophy and hopes of Rocker (1873-1958) on Sunday in a walk through some of his favourite haunts.
Historian Clive Bettington is organising the event. Starts 10.30am from Aldgate Tube. £8/£6. Details: 07941 367 882
