THE British Library has thrown a spotlight on the bizarre practice of censorship in an exhibition on theatre’s golden era. Reports by the Lord Chamberlain’s Office spies document the war waged on 1950s playwrights. Interviews, photos, telegrams and manuscripts and Laurence Olivier’s white gloves are also on display.
Alan Plater, Peter Nichols and Harold Pinter will be keynote speakers at a conference at the library on September 8 and 9. www.bl.uk/ theatrearchive
