Prepare for a night of surprises - Scottish folk performer Karine Polwart
PREVIEW: KARINE POLWART
The Roundhouse
PHILOSOPHY teacher turned Scottish folk fiend Karine Polwart is teaming up with Kenny Anderson (aka King Creosote), and Edinburgh singer/pianist Kim Edgar for a unique night of alt-folk at the Roundhouse for the Colour Your Summer season.
The artists first met at a retreat for musicians in a Southern Scottish beach.
Now, Karine says on her website, the three are taking their "campfire-folk-pop-indie-dub-step-fusion" to Camden, for a night of surprises at the Roundhouse.
She added: "I'm chuffed to bits to get the chance to bring some of the new songs south for this one-off show. It's definitely not just a regular solo show. The Roundhouse is such a quirky venue that I wanted to make it something really special."
For Colour Your Summer, the Roundhouse main space will be transformed into an intimate venue within the pillars with cabaret-style tables in front of the stage and tiered seating further back.
• Karine Polwart, Kenny Anderson and Kim Edgar play the Roundhouse on August 20. 7pm. £15
