Songs for a Summer Evening - A night of romantic song

PREVIEW: SONGS FOR A SUDDEN EVENING
Lauderdale House

TENOR Tony Yates and Polish soprano Magda Kozyra bring their experience and love of English song and French chanson to Lauderdale House this month.
Lieder (which literally translates from German as “songs”) is used in English to refer to romantic music songs.
The programme will include works from the high point of lieder music, by Beethoven, Mahler, Brahms, Frank Bridge and Lennox Berkeley, Faure, Poulenc and Duparc.
Tony, who lives in Hackney where he works as a piano and singing teacher, has performed extensively as a soloist at venues including St John’s Smith Square, The Tower of London and the Purcell Room.
For the past five years he has staged concerts in the popular series for children at Lauderdale House.
Magda, who recently performed with Hampstead Garden Opera, is currently studying at Trinity College of Music and was a Young Artist for the Wagner Society at the Royal Academy of Music.
Brian Benedict will accompany on piano.
Songs for a Summer Evening is at Lauderdale House, Waterlow Park, Highgate, on Thursday August 21 at 7.30pm. Tickets £10 (£8 concs). 07985 787 462.
